Mangahoe Slalom site

The Mangahoe is NZL's first constructed site and it is New Zealand's premier race course. It is designed to be simular to Sao in Spain. However it is alot smaller, and has sharp rocks to cut and break you boat on. The course is 350m long and flows all year depeding on water.
The site is situated about 30min out of town from Palmerston North and 5min from shannon.
The Mangahoe has a permant set up of gates, which are adjustable, for height, and postition on the river.
Flows can fluctuate from 8cumecs to 20+ cumecs with around 15 being the optimal flow and a gradient of 6m over the 350m length course. It's permanent gate systemis ideal for training and during a normal summer the course has water flowing on a regular basis. Because the site is dam-controlled, flows are held constant, adding to the racing potential that it offers.
